Kerri Urbahn joined the Alliance Defending Freedom in January 2014. She held two positions at the conservative nonprofit law firm, first as a legal communications director, as per her LinkedIn profile.

Between July 2016 and January 2018, she was the director of communications and legal counsel. During her four-year tenure at ADF, she led communications strategy on high-profile cases involving the First Amendment rights and religious freedom, such as the 2014 Houston Subpoenas of Sermons.
