Rotimi Amaechi was born in Ubima, a town in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. He attended Government Secondary School in Okolobiri and later earned a degree in English Studies and Literature from the UNIPORT. He was actively involved in student politics.
Political Career
Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly (1999–2007): Amaechi began his political journey as a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, eventually becoming the Speaker.
Governor of Rivers State (2007–2015): He served two terms as governor, focusing on infrastructure development, education, and healthcare.
Minister of Transportation (2015–2022): Appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari, Amaechi oversaw significant projects, including the Lagos-Ibadan railway modernization.
2023 Presidential Aspirant: In April 2022, he declared his intention to run for the presidency under the APC but did not secure the party's nomination.
