He gained fame as the pioneer Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from 2003 to 2007, where he led high-profile anti-corruption cases, securing over 270 convictions and delisting Nigeria from the FATF’s non-cooperative list.
Appointed National Security Adviser by President Bola Tinubu in June 2023, Ribadu now oversees Nigeria’s security architecture, emphasising intelligence-led strategies to combat insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping.
A 1984 law graduate from Ahmadu Bello University, he ran for president in 2011 and governor of Adamawa State in 2015, 2019, and 2023, though unsuccessfully. His integrity-driven career continues to shape Nigeria’s fight against corruption and insecurity.
