Ini Edo had a diploma in theatre arts from the University of Uyo and a Bachelor's degree in English at the University of Calabar. Despite her degree, she did not see herself becoming an actress! She was considering a career in law or television. Ini Edo began acting in the early 2000s and quickly rose to prominence. Her first film was Thick Madam in 2003. She has featured in over 100 Nollywood films across various genres, including drama, romance, thriller, and comedy. She is a film producer committed to creating impactful stories. She is a recipient of multiple awards for acting and contributions to the Nigerian film industry.
In November 2008, she got married to Philip Ehiagwina, a businessman. Nollywood actress Rita Dominic came to the wedding. Edo had a second wedding in February 2009 in America, in Houston, Texas, where her husband is based. The marriage ended in September 2014 after six years.
On March 15, 2021, Ini Edo welcomed her first child, a girl named Light, through surrogacy.
