Yahaya Bello was the governor of Kogi state between 2016 - 2024. He was the youngest governor in Nigeria when he was in office. He studied accounting and business administration at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He was re-elected in 2019 amid strong political battles and tight security concerns.
In 2023, he declared his intention to run for Nigeria's presidency but failed to secure the APC ticket. He lost to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
