Nigerian Governor Approves Minor Cabinet Reshuffle

Kano State - Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle and posting of senior staff in the state civil service.
Legit.ng recalls that Yusuf said he has a plan to reshuffle his cabinet 18 months after assuming office, stating that some members of his cabinet rated below the performance of statutory schedules will be sacked.

Governor Yusuf redeployed the Attorney General and Honourable Commissioner of Justice, Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi to the Ministry of Transport.
The New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) governor also redeployed the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Barr. Mustapha Nuruddeen Muhammad to the Ministry of Environment to serve as Permanent Secretary.
The Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media to Governor Yusuf, Kwankwason Tuwita, disclosed this via his X handle @babarh_ on Monday, September 22, 2025.
According to Kwankwason, the Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, is to return to his substantive ministry.
Kibiya is to return to base after serving in an acting capacity at the Ministry of Transport.
Governor Yusuf ordered all officials affected by the reassignments to formally hand over the affairs of their offices to the most senior official of the ministry.

Governor Yusuf earlier appointed six new commissioners that will serve in his government after forwarding the names of the commissioner nominees to the State House of Assembly for confirmation.
This move by the governor follows a major cabinet reshuffle and the sacking of five previous commissioners.
Ekiti governor dissolves cabinet, sacks 19 commissioners
Recall that in a major cabinet reshuffle, the governor of Ekiti state, Biodun Oyebanji, dismissed 19 commissioners from their positions in his administration.
Governor Oyebanji also directed the affected commissioners and special advisers to hand over to the permanent secretary or the most senior civil servant in their respective MDAs.
The secretary to the state government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, confirmed this in a statement issued on Sunday, August 10, and shared further details.

Plateau governor suspends 4 officials, reshuffles cabinet
Four key officials of the Plateau state governor, Caleb Mutfwang's cabinet suspended with immediate effect.
The director of the press to the governor said Mutfwang also approved a minor reshuffle of his cabinet.
Governor Mutfwang's spokesperson, however, did not give any reason for the suspension of the key officials.
