Who Is Tunde Bakare?
Tunde Bakare is a popular Nigerian pastor, lawyer, and political activist known for his bold sermons and advocacy for good governance. Born into a Muslim family in Abeokuta, he changed to Christianity in 1974. He studied law at UNILAG and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1981. After practising law and establishing his own firm, Tunde Bakare & Co (El-Shaddai Chambers), he transitioned into ministry in 1988.
In 1989, he founded The Latter Rain Assembly, now known as The Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC), where he serves as the Serving Overseer. Bakare is also the President of the Global Apostolic Impact Network (GAIN) and Latter Rain Ministries, Inc., based in Atlanta, USA.
Careers
Legal Career: After completing his NYSC, Bakare worked with notable law firms including Gani Fawehinmi Chambers and Rotimi Williams & Co. He established his own law firm in 1984.
Political Activism: Bakare was the running mate to Muhammadu Buhari in the 2011 presidential election under the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). He later declared his intention to run for president after Buhari's tenure.
Advocacy: As a co-convener of the Save Nigeria Group (SNG), he played a pivotal role in leading civil demonstrations advocating for good governance during critical periods in Nigeria's history.
