Daura, Katsina State - Yusuf, the son of Former President Muhammad Buhari, has been backed as the preferred candidate for the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State.
Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sandamu Local Government Area of Katsina State have thrown their weight behind Yusuf ahead of the 2027 election.

Elected officials and political appointees across the federal constituency decided during a high-level meeting held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the Sandamu Local Government secretariat.
The council chairman, Usman Na Lado, described Yusuf Buhari’s endorsement as a collective resolution.
Lado said the stakeholders’ resolution aims to strengthen the APC’s chances at the 2027 elections.
As reported by Daily Trust, Lado stated this while addressing participants.
According to Lado, Yusuf Buhari’s candidacy was considered suitable based on his perceived capacity and acceptance among party stakeholders.
He further disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dikko Umar Radda were also reaffirmed as the APC’s standard flag bearers in the 2027 elections.
He explained that the endorsements signal early preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Lado urged party loyalists to intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts for all APC candidates.
According to Daily Trust, reliable APC sources disclosed that Yusuf Buhari’s endorsement is a clear directive from Governor Radda.

Buhari's son Yusuf got many emotional
Recall that Yusuf, the son of late President Muhammadu Buhari, made headlines for being a loyal son to his father.
Some Nigerians pointed out specific actions the young man took while his father was ill and during his burial proceedings after his passing.
His father unfortunately passed away at the age of 82 after battling an undisclosed medical challenge at a clinic in London.
