The People's Redemption Party (PRP) has sent a major invitation to the opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, to come together under its fold in safeguarding the democracy of Nigeria.
James Adeshina, the Lagos chapter's chairman of the party, made the call while speaking in an interview with journalists on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

Adeshina addressed the leadership crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a party that was adopted by influential opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The PRP chairman, who was a former Lagos State Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Chairman, described the renewed crisis in the ADC leadership as a threat to opposition unity.
ADC accuses APC of fueling internal crisis
The leadership crisis rocking the ADC has led to the removal of its national chairman, secretary and others from the website of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The party's leaders have alleged that this was orchestrated by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu.
However, the APC denied the allegation, noting that the leaders brought the crisis upon themselves, saying they had ignored the rule of law earlier. Felix Morka, the national publicity secretary of the APC, made the denial in an interview on News Central TV.
ADC: Nigerians react as APC denies allegations
Morka's denial has started generating mixed reactions from Nigerians. Below are some of their comments:
Lekan Johnson faulted the opposition leaders:
"Every party in Nigeria points fingers while the same game gets played across the board. The real lesson for 2027 is that institutions only work when those inside them respect the rules, regardless of party colour."

Time believed the APC was at fault:
"How can a group of people who've been in Nigerian politics for more than 30 years just ignore the rule of law or make a flimsy mistake as such? I mean, it still doesn't make sense. The politics of destroying to conquer will destroy the democracy we all fought for. Beware, Nigerians."
Ojile Matella believed APC is instrumental in the opposition crisis:
"APC keeps playing this game. They will set a fire and come out to say they know nothing about it. We can’t continue like this as a country."
Paediatrician Otaru asked questions:
"Who sponsored the protest at the INEC office yesterday b4 the they made the announcement? Who pressurised Gombe to go to court, the person who couldn't differentiate between go and come before, why is it that within 6 hrs of protest, INEC swung into action if FG and APC are not in action?"
