Panic as Nigerian Governor’s Aide Kidnapped in Popular Northern State

Lafia, Nasarawa State - Dr. Muhammed Egye Osolafia, the Senior Special Assistant on Humanitarian Services to Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, has been kidnapped by gunmen.

The gunmen whisked the governor’s aide away just as he was about to enter his residence at Tudun Amba in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Saturday night, September 20, 2025, after the gunmen started shooting sporadically into the air.

As reported by Vanguard, the Senior Special Adviser to Governor Sule on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba, confirmed Osolafia’s kidnap to newsmen in Lafia on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Ahemba described the kidnapping incident as “sad and unfortunate.”

Governor Sule had recently cautioned top government functionaries against using their influence to secure the release of suspected kidnappers in security custody.

It was gathered that kidnapping has been on the rise in Lafia and other parts of the state.

This is despite several police operations and arrests of suspects in recent times.

Gunmen kidnap Ebonyi Governor’s aide

In a similar story, Legit.ng reported that there was tension in Ebonyi state on Thursday, April 3, 2025, as gunmen reportedly abducted Mrs. Blessing Adagba, a top aide to Governor Francis Nwifuru.

According to reports, the kidnappers took Adagba from her community in the early hours of the day and whisked her to an unknown destination, demanding N30 million for her release.

The state police command spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the development in a statement and shared further details.

According to security experts, the growing wave of abductions is due to the influx of displaced persons from bandit-ravaged states into Nasarawa.

The experts added that the ongoing military offensive in neighbouring Benue State, has forced some criminal elements to relocate into Nasarawa.

Gunmen kidnap Ohanaeze Youth President

Recall that the President of Ohanaeze Youth Council, Igboayaka Igboayaka, was kidnapped in Owerri, Imo state.

Igboayaka was abducted by gunmen who invaded his Works layout residence in Owerri on Saturday, February 8, 2025.
