
Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission
The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) coordinates Christian pilgrimages to holy sites globally, ensuring smooth travel and spiritual enrichment for Nigerian Christians. It promotes moral transformation and national development.
Founded: Established on May 28, 2007, by the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission Act, it replaced the Nigerian Pilgrims Act of 1989, reorganizing federal oversight of Christian pilgrimage.
Structure: The NCPC is a corporate body with perpetual succession, led by a Chairman, six members, a Secretary, and ex-officio representatives from Aviation, Central Bank, Foreign Affairs, Health, Internal Affairs, and the Christian Association of Nigeria, all appointed by the President.
Functions: It licenses and supervises pilgrimage agencies, coordinates travel, accommodation, and welfare services, and manages pilgrim camps and resources for hitch-free pilgrimages.
