Kano, Kano state - Hamza Darma, a prominent chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state, died on Friday, August 21, at the age of 76.
Legit.ng reports that the news of the prominent elder statesman's passing was confirmed by Barau Jibrin, the deputy president of the Senate, who shared a tribute on his verified Facebook page shortly after learning of the death. He reportedly died after a brief illness.

APC's Barau Jibrin mourns Darma
Jibrin described the development as a profound loss for Kano and its political community. In his tribute, he wrote:
"Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'un. I received with deep shock the news of the death of Alhaji Hamza Darma, an elder statesman in our beloved state, Kano, who passed away today, Friday."
The deputy senate president praised Darma for the values he embodied throughout his life.
He wrote:
"This is indeed a monumental loss, not only to his family but to all of us in the Kano political landscape. He was a man of humility, commitment, and service, who devoted his life to Almighty Allah and the well-being of our people."
Furthermore, Jibrin extended condolences to Darma's family and to Kano state as a whole. He concluded his tribute with a prayer:
"May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, have mercy upon him, expand his grave, and grant him Jannatul Firdaus."
