Atiku connects with Bafarawa

Atiku wrote with accompanying pictures:

"I’m happy to have met him (Bafarawa) in such a hospitable condition and to have had quality discussions with him."

Legit.ng reports that while Atiku is a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, Bafarawa is currently unattached.

It would be recalled that in early 2025, Bafarawa officially quit his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku's former political platform.

The Sokoto politician conveyed his resignation in a letter dated January 13, 2025, which was addressed to Umar Damagum, the PDP acting national chairman.

Bafarawa stated that it was important for him to resign from the PDP “to avoid any potential conflict of interest that may arise from my political affiliations.”

He wrote:

“I write to formally tender my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party. This decision, though deeply personal and difficult, is borne out of my commitment to a new chapter of service that aligns with my vision of uplifting humanity through empowering the youth."

The former governor stressed that he has aligned himself with a grassroots development group after he purportedly excused himself from active partisan politics.

In an interview with the BBC Hausa in April, the ex-governor lamented the state of the nation, noting that politicians in Nigeria are most concerned about political positions, 'without doing anything beneficial for the ordinary citizens.'

Bafarawa spoke on the back of defections by some prominent politicians from opposition parties are to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former governor alleged that the defections were selfish, and not for the benefit of the masses.

'Atiku, most viable candidate'

Meanwhile, Grema Kyari, a PDP chieftain, said that in 2027, Nigeria’s future will not be determined by mere rhetoric or emotional appeals. According to him, the electorate will prioritise competence, courage, and a clear vision.

Kyari told Legit.ng:

"The nation is observing closely, grappling with profound challenges, widespread hardship, acute hunger, and growing discontent. When the populace reaches its limit, it will seek genuine leadership rather than mere authority.
"Atiku may not be the preferred candidate of the entrenched elite. Nevertheless, he represents Nigeria’s most viable prospect for stability, meaningful reform, and national reconciliation.
"Let those who conspire in shadows be wary, and let orchestrated campaigns of misinformation falter, Atiku remains a formidable objective for 2027."

Atiku, others' fates predicted

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that ahead of the 2027 election, ChatGPT, the popular conversational artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, projected that Atiku remains a strong contender for the presidential ticket of the ADC.

Asked by Legit.ng, to predict who will win the ADC's ticket for the 2027 presidential election, ChatGPT picked Atiku; Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election; and Rotimi Amaechi, former governor of Rivers; as the "key potential contenders".
