2027 Election: Atiku’s Camp Mentions What Would Happen If He Withdraws and Endorses Peter Obi

  • Atiku Abubakar's aide, 'Demola Olarewaju, said the ADC must field his principal and Peter Obi on the ballot together
  • Olarewaju said harnessing Atiku and Obi's strengths, rather than sacrificing one for the other, will make the ADC coalition victorious in the 2027 election
  • Olarewaju stated that "Atiku has to be on the ballot and Obi also has to be there for the opposition coalition to have a chance"

FCT, Abuja - 'Demola Olarewaju, special assistant, digital media strategy to former Vice President (VP) Atiku Abubakar, has said should his principal withdraw from the 2027 presidential race and endorse Peter Obi, President Bola Tinubu “will sweep the north”.

Olarewaju stated that the recently-held by-elections are proof that political leverage is personal and not transferable.

The political strategist was reacting to the triumph of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the special elections conducted in 12 states.

Legit.ng reports that the elections were held to replace lawmakers who died or resigned. The APC secured a majority of the seats, according to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Reacting to the elections’ outcome and juxtaposing it with the opposition alliance, Olarewaju explained that he disagrees with the notion that Obi does not need to be on the ballot in the 2027 presidential election.

His statement, shared on his known X (formerly Twitter) page, partly reads:

“Atiku and El-Rufai may endorse Obi and campaign for him in the North but if Atiku is not on the ballot directly, his votes will not necessarily translate into victory over Tinubu.
“Therefore: perish this thought that Atiku should withdraw and endorse Obi - Tinubu will sweep the North.

“Perish also the thought that Obi doesn’t need to be on the ballot: the opposition coalition will fail without him.
“I respect the aspiration of anyone else running for the party ticket but we must go back to the basics, back to the formational thought behind this coalition.”

In July, opposition politicians and some African Democratic Congress (ADC) leaders adopted the party as the coalition platform for the 2027 election.

Some of the coalition members include Adamawa-born Atiku; Uche Secondus, former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman; Babangida Aliyu, former governor of Niger state; Sam Egwu, former governor of Ebonyi; Aminu Tambuwal, ex-governor of Sokoto; and Liyel Imoke, former governor of Cross River.

The ADC coalition said its mission is to 'rescue Nigeria' and democratically unseat President Tinubu in the 2027 election.

Prophet predicts Tinubu's fate

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Apostle Richard Matthew declared that President Tinubu will secure re-election in 2027.

Speaking recently via his YouTube page, Prophetic Channel, Apostle Matthew prophesied that even if a conflict happened in Tinubu's camp, it cannot stop the president's 'victory' in the 2027 election.
