He spoke in reaction to a statement against governor Mbah’s liberty to join the APC attributed to the minister of innovation, science and technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, at a meeting in Enugu on Sunday, August 10.

Okechukwu quoted Nnaji as saying:

“Anybody who wants to run for the governorship of Enugu state, let him come to the APC, we will go to contest, we are waiting for them.”

As reported by The Nation, Okechukwu added that APC members are at a loss “why Nnaji, who himself is from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is chasing away the exceptionally performing Gov. Mbah”.
“For we, the foundation members, Gov. Mbah should disregard our dear brother Chief Nnaji, because we want to win Lion Building for the first time and join 23 other states to guarantee President Bola Tinubu’s victory in 2027,” he said.

Tinubu endorses Enugu gov for 2nd term

Legit.ng earlier reported that amid the high-profile defections that have hit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), President Bola Ahmed Tinubu endorsed Governor Mbah of Enugu state for a second term.

Arthur Eze, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Atlas Oranto Petroleum, made this disclosure in a statement released to the press.

He said:

“God is a wonderful God. He brought Peter Mbah to change Igboland. Let me tell you, Tinubu has already endorsed him for second term. Tinubu endorsed him for second term because he has character. He is very honest, nobody will stop him.”

PDP speaks on "inevitable defeat" of Tinubu

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said President Tinubu’s “defeat” in the coming 2027 election was “inevitable”.

In a communique issued at the end of the 99th meeting of the party’s NEC, the opposition party said Tinubu would lose “due to its dismal failure in government”.

As presented by Iliya Damagum, the acting national chairman of the PDP, the party accused Tinubu and the ruling APC of plotting a one-party rule, allegedly ‘out of fear of 2027 defeat’.
