Afrobeat singer and grandson of the legendary Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Made Kuti, has addressed those attacking his marriage to his wife, Inedoye Onyenso.
The young musician tied the knot with Inedoye in November 2023 at a private civil wedding in Lagos, but months later, critics still troll him online, accusing him of “mixing blood” by marrying from another ethnic group.
Recently, an X user described him as a “foolish Yoruba man” for marrying an Igbo woman.

Reacting to the troll, the singer quoted the teachings of African leaders and his famous family heritage, noting that Africa can only rise when united.

Made wrote:
“When I saw this post, it didn’t make me angry, I just felt pity for this person"
He added that anyone who still holds onto tribal superiority is “not yet free” from the chains of colonialism.
He stated:
“Running backwards and believing ethnic superiority/inferiority is justifiable is slave mentality. It means you haven’t fully freed yourself from your nearly 500-year-old chains. It means you’re still a victim."
The singer urged critics to learn from Pan-Africanists like Kwame Nkrumah, Patrice Lumumba, Thomas Sankara, his great-grandmother Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, and his grandfather, Fela.
He explained that these leaders envisioned an Africa without borders, without hate, and without the divisions sown by colonial regimes.
