Naij.com Reader Alerts of Armed Robberies Taking Place in Benin City

Legit.ng reader Charles Idaewor has narrated the ordeal his wife had to endure from the hands of armed robbers near Benin City.

Mr. Idaewor and his wife are residents of the Lakowe Lakes development in Ibeju-Lekki local government area of Lagos State. This Sunday, Mrs. Idaewor boarded the bus heading to Akwa Ibom State. When they were nearing Benin City, capital of Edo State, the bus passengers were ambushed and robbed at gunpoint by hoodlums. Mrs. Idaewor was dispossessed of the sum N200,000 in cash, two phones worth N50,000 and of her bag with personal belongings.

Mr. Idaewor expresses relief that no one was physically hurt during the appaling incident, but appeals to the Federal Government to do everything in its powers to make sure that Nigerians are secure in their own land.

Legit.ng has previously published the report of one of Benin City residents who decried high crime rates in the Aduwawa community. Local residents are being robbed, kidnapped and sexually abused by armed hoodlums suspected to be Boko Haram trainees, while the police are seemingly ignoring the developments.

Almost every day we get letters of complaint from residents of different parts of Nigeria who are not satisfied with how the Nigeria Police Force handles crime and security threats within the country. We have reached out to police representatives for commentaries, but are yet to receive any.
