Buhari Congratulates Akeredolu on Supreme Court Victory, Sends Important Message

FCT, Abuja - President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state over the Supreme Court judgement, which upheld his re-election in the October 10, 2020 election.

This was revealed in a statement released on Wednesday, July 28, by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina.

According to the statement, shared on Facebook by Adesina, President Buhari advised Akeredolu and all elected leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to always put the people first in their consideration of development projects.

The Nigerian leader went on to affirm that the popularity of the ruling party would continue to depend on performance and acceptance by the electorate.

While hailing Akeredolu for working for the development of the southwest state, Buhari called on the opposition to sheathe the sword, work for the growth of Ondo.

Buhari also hailed the Ondo state governor with reforms that continue to attract the goodwill of investors.

He added that court judgement further bolsters the strength, reach of the APC, as well as its bright chances of consolidation in coming elections.

Supreme court gives final say on Akeredolu’s election victory

The president's remark is coming hours after the Supreme Court on Wednesday, July 28, upheld the ruling of the Court of Appeal which had earlier upheld the re-election of Akeredolu.
