As reported by The Punch, Bwala stated this during an interview on The Clarity Zone podcast posted on YouTube on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
“If Seyi Tinubu’s father is the president, what stops him from running for Lagos State governor? Seyi Tinubu can even challenge his father in the next election.”
Bwala said Seyi Tinubu has not been associated with scandals or public controversies like many children of past Nigerian leaders.
The presidential aide further urged Nigerians to judge Seyi based on personal experience rather than inherited perceptions.
“You will never see him attacking people on social media, even though his father is one of the most vilified in recent memory. He has built relationships even with critics of this government.”

Absolutely! Being the President’s son does not automatically disqualify anyone from public office. What truly matters is vision, competence, and the ability to earn the trust of the people. If Seyi Tinubu believes he has the ideas, skills, and commitment to serve Lagos State effectively, it is ultimately up to the citizens to assess his suitability. Leadership is not a matter of family connections or inheritance—it is earned through integrity, dedication, and a proven capacity to deliver results for the people.
