Sowore vs Tinubu: ex-AAC presidential candidate sent fresh warning
- An APC chieftain, Joe Igbokwe, has called on former AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore to withdraw his statement against President Bola Tinubu
- Igbokwe said he has talked to Sowore as a friend, while recalling how he met with Sowore through a mutual friend called Peter Claver
- According to the APC chieftain, the least that Sowore can do is to retract his statement and apologise to President Tinubu
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has urged the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and publisher of the Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, to retract his statement against President Bola Tinubu and apologise to him.
The former presidential candidate on social media described the president as "a criminal", but the APC chieftain in an opinion titled, “My 10 Kobo Advice to Sowore,” recounted his long-standing relationship with him and the opposition politician through a mutual friend called Peter Claver.

Igbokwe expresses shock about Sowore's attack
Igbokwe disclosed that he was surprised by the comment of the opposition presidential candidate about President Tinubu. He said:
"I advised him to withdraw the shameful, scurrilous drivels and apologise to the President. Up till now, he has not found the need to apologise to the President and Nigerians who elected him as president,” Igbokwe wrote."
Igbokwe further defended the record of President Tinubu and described him as “an international Chartered Accountant, international scholar", adding that Tinubu was a former senator of Nigeria and an ex-governor of "Nigeria’s economic nerve centre called Lagos State for eight years, and now the President of Nigeria.”

APC chieftain Igbokwe advises Sowore
The APC chieftain, in a Facebook post, explained that an attack on President Tinubu is equivalent to an insult on the electorate. He then criticised Sowore's career journey since his day as a student union president at the University of Lagos Students' Union, noting that his impact has diminished.
He further stressed that the least that the former AAC presidential candidate can do is to publicly retract and apologise for the comment. He noted that he has reached out to Sowore as a friend to withdraw "these nonsensical effusions and openly apologise to the President" and Nigerians at large. He stressed that the world should be aware that he warned Sowore about his comment.
Igbokwe's comment came amid the wider controversies between the former AAC presidential candidate and the State Security Services (SSS). The secret police asked X to delete one of Sowore's posts on President Tinubu, a move the legal team of the publisher considered unconstitutional.
