Katsina and Zamfara killings highlight collapsed security architecture
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC expressed deep outrage over the recent massacre in Malumfashi, Katsina State.
According to the party, 30 worshippers were shot dead inside a mosque, while 20 villagers were burnt alive in their homes. The ADC linked the incident to a broader pattern of violence in the region, citing the killing of 47 individuals in Zamfara, 38 of whom were reportedly executed despite ransom payments being made.
“This evil act epitomises the horrors that Nigerians have been forced to endure under this administration,” the party stated. “It is also a damning proof of the total collapse of our national security architecture, which has prompted even the nation’s chief of defence staff, CDS, to ask citizens to learn how to defend themselves.”
ADC slams Tinubu’s foreign trips amid domestic crisis
The ADC further criticised President Tinubu for what it described as misplaced priorities, accusing him of focusing on international engagements while domestic tragedies escalate. “It is disheartening to note that instead of confronting these national tragedies with the seriousness they demand, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu continues to jet-set across the world, chasing photo-ops, while his people are dying in dozens at home,” the statement read.

Political rally in Zamfara condemned by ADC
The party also condemned governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for holding a political meeting in Zamfara just days after the massacre. The ADC argued that the gathering was insensitive and poorly timed. “Instead of rallying around their beleaguered colleague to help stop the orgy of killings, they chose to stage a political rally at the scene of mass murder,” the party said.
The ADC’s call for a state of emergency depicts growing public frustration over the escalating violence in northern Nigeria and the perceived inadequacy of the federal government’s response.
