Speaking to a crowd of supporters, Okpebholo described the recruitment drive as a strategic investment in Edo’s future. He said the plan was central to his broader mission to empower young people and accelerate development across the state.
“We are going to massively employ our young people,” the governor declared. “Creating opportunities for our youths is the greatest investment we can make for the future of Edo.”
He revealed that he had directed the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor, to commence the recruitment process immediately.
Edo central development projects unveiled
In addition to the employment initiative, Governor Okpebholo outlined a series of infrastructure projects targeted at Edo Central. These include the construction of an ultra-modern market in Irrua, the dualisation of the Ekpoma–Ubiaja road, and the extension of a 33kV power line to address persistent electricity challenges in the region.
The governor emphasised that these projects were designed to stimulate economic growth and improve the quality of life for residents. He said his administration was committed to delivering tangible results that reflect the aspirations of the people.
Governor highlights past achievements
Reflecting on his tenure as a senator, Okpebholo cited the ongoing reconstruction of the Benin–Auchi–Okene road, a project he said was made possible through collaboration with President Bola Tinubu. He also mentioned the immediate renovation of Eguare-Ugbegun Primary School in Ward 10, which he facilitated during his time in the Senate.
“If I do not develop my home, no one else will,” Okpebholo told the crowd. “You resisted rigging, and we won resoundingly. My coming here is to thank you and assure you that I am ready to serve and work for our people.”
The rally in Irrua drew several high-ranking APC figures, including Musa Ikhilor, Edo Central Senatorial leader Cecil Isekhaigbe, APC State Deputy Chairman Sylvester Aigboboh, and APC senatorial candidate Joseph Ikpea. The event formed part of a broader mobilisation effort ahead of the upcoming senatorial poll.
