Ikeja, Lagos - The speaker of the Lagos state house of assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has halted the move to sanction Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's commissioner for waterfront infrastructural development, Kabiru Abdullahi.

Legit.ng learnt that the decision to sanction the commissioner became necessary following Abdullahi's refusal to honour an invitation of a committee of the house that oversights the activities of the ministry of waterfront infrastructure development.

They also prayed that the Committee on Waterfront Infrastructure of the House be mandated to carry out a holistic investigation of the Ministry since Abdullahi's appointment.

The committee also asked the House places the confirmation of the commissioner's appointment on hold.

This was contained in a statement signed by Eromosele Ebhomele, the chief press secretary to Obasa, on Tuesday, September 13.

What did Obasa do for Lagos' commissioner?

However, Obasa appealed to the committee and members of the House to reconsider their prayer just as he urged them to give the commissioner another opportunity to appear before the House.

In this regard, the Speaker directed the Clerk of the House, Olalekan Onafeko, to write to the commissioner to appear with all necessary documents on Thursday, September 15, 2022.

"I have listened to your submissions and I want to appeal to the chairman and the committee and members to sheathe their swords while we give the commissioner another opportunity to appear before you on Thursday unfailingly. He should also appear with all necessary documents," the Speaker appealed.

Former Lagos speaker dies at 82, Obasa, lawmakers mourn

Legit.ng earlier reported that Mudashiru Obasa, the speaker of the Lagos state house of assembly, has mourned the death of the former speaker of the house, Abayomi Kinyomi.

The death of Kinyomi, who served as speaker of the Lagos state house between January 1992 to November 1993, was described as a great loss by Obasa.

Obasa then sent his condolence to the family, friends and associates of the deceased, revealing how he lived and served humanity in his lifetime.
