2023: Prominent APC Governor Reveals Who Should Take Over

  • Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state has drummed support for women’s participation in the affairs of the nation

Lagos state- The governor of Ondo state Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), said men politicians have failed the nation and that women should be allowed to take over.

He said there should be increased women participation in politics of the country.

The governor made this remarks in Lagos on Tuesday, October 26 at the 21st National Women’s Conference of the Committee Of Wives Of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) held at the Eko Hotel And Suites, Victoria Island, PM News reported.

According to Akeredolu, “men have never led this country properly,” noting that men need women in order to address urgent needs of the country.

He said the history of Nigeria would not be complete without the role of women who had contributed to the progress of the country.

Akeredolu said:

“The history of Nigeria is replete with heroic deeds of women. We have had women who had contributed to the progress of this country. We must continue to appreciate them. There is no reasonable society that can push women to the back seat and expect to make progress. If the country must move forward, women must lead us to progress.
“I am ready to follow women, we must be ready. Women are good leaders. There is need for women who are politically conscious not to leave politics for men alone; they have never led this country properly. You must embrace politics. You must go beyond jamboree of being best political singers at rallies. You can’t be singing at political rallies, you must do something else.”

The governor urged men to work with women politically, saying that wives of political office holders should avoid using their conducts to tarnish the integrity of their husbands, adding they should influence their husbands positively in government policies.

On his part, the Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, emphasised the importance of women in the society, especially in the home.

He urged women to be alert to their responsibilities, and not allow themselves to be pushed to the background.

Earlier, the governor through his official Facebook page warned that the various criminal activities of kidnapping, bombing and assault on the people in some parts of the country which are being referred to as banditry must be appropriately addressed as terrorism.

He noted that infiltration of the country’s borders and burning down of railway are activities that must be addressed as terrorism and the perpetrators treated as same.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that the governor of Ondo state, Rotimi Akeredolu has revealed why his Osun state counterpart, Adegboyega Oyetola should be re-elected for another term.

Akeredolu on Thursday, September 23, said that Osun would gain more from Oyetola if he is elected for another four years in office, The Punch reports.

The governor who made the disclosure while speaking on the sidelines of the 30th anniversary of the creation of Osun explained that the state government under Oyetola's leadership is doing very well.

Ondo governor reveals destination after 2nd Term

Earlier, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has reacted to claims that he is already nursing plans to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Debunking the claim on Sunday, September 19, the Ondo governor said as an APC man, he is going nowhere, The Nation reports.

Speaking further, the governor said he will return to his chamber upon the conclusion of his tenure because that is where he is most comfortable.
