Speaking with Legit.ng, she recalled the difficult emotions she felt when her partner turned the blame on her during their disagreement.
She explained that it was not just about the moment itself, but how it tied into a pattern she had already noticed in the relationship:
"Ehm, I felt hurt. At this point, it felt like the height of manipulation. There had already been other forms of manipulation that he had exhibited, but when that response came, I just felt this was the peak of it. I felt really hurt, I felt sad, and a part of me just felt like this was done with. So yeah."

Looking back on the relationship, she admitted that there were signs she should not have ignored, even though she overlooked them at the time:
"Yep, and I take full responsibility for that. The thing is, he made mention that he wanted me to get pregnant, and I told him no, I wanted us to see my parents first, pay the bride price, then we can do what my people do before pregnancy. Looking back now, if somebody else brings that up in a relationship, that’s a red flag not to continue, right?"
"So yes, I overlooked the fact that in the relationship, he was looking for a child while I was looking for companionship or building a bond with somebody. I overlooked that, and I learned my lesson the hard way. He actually told me from the second or third date, 'I really want you to get pregnant.' I thought it was a joke, because you can’t just tell somebody you just met on the third date that you want her to get pregnant. But I see now it was a serious sign."
When the conversation turned to that particular statement about pregnancy, she noted that it has remained with her till today, she said:
"Yeah, it has really stayed with me. I’ve even met a number of people who shared the same pain with me."
Having gone through these experiences, she shared what she believes others should take away if they ever find themselves in a similar situation:
"Ehm, what I would say is choose yourself. Because for you to be dating somebody who puts you in a place where you feel betrayed and manipulated, it means there was a conscious effort on their end to selfishly pick themselves first;regardless of how that decision made you feel. They knew it would hurt you, but they still chose themselves."
"So my advice is: love yourself and always choose yourself. When I made the post, people told me, ‘Just pretend, stay with him, maybe he’ll change.’ But that wouldn’t be me choosing myself. I thought ahead: in the next few months, would I be happy I stayed? The answer was no. So I decided to choose myself."

"Choosing yourself comes in different ways. For me now, I’m keeping myself busy and doing things that are productive, not that I wasn’t doing that before, but I’m more focused now. Just choose yourself and be happy. That’s all I have to say. Just choose yourself. I hope that makes sense."
