Breaking: Tinubu Orders Wike to Carry Out 2 Emergency Projects as Details Emerge

  • President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike to immediately begin building two 300-capacity hostels for male and female students of the Nigerian Law School, Abuja
  • The president also approved the construction of a road linking the Body of Benchers Secretariat at Jabi District with Nile University to reduce traffic congestion near the EFCC headquarters

FCT, Abuja - President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to immediately begin the construction of new hostels for the Nigerian Law School in Abuja.

The plan calls for two hostels, one for male students and one for female students, each designed to accommodate 300 occupants.

The president also directed the FCT Administration to complete the construction of a road link between Body of Benchers Secretariat, Jabi District, and Nile University.

The road, upon its completion, is meant to enhance traffic flow and ease the congestion on the road to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters.

Tinubu orders projects executed under emergency consideration

In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 23, the senior special assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Mr Lere Olayinka, confirmed the presidential directive.

He said:

“The projects will be executed under emergency consideration. One female hostel with capacity for 300 occupants and another 300-capacity male hostel will be constructed in the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, to provide accommodation for students of the school.”

Mr Olayinka via X (formerly Twitter) further explained that the new hostels would help address the long-standing problem of insufficient accommodation for law school students in the capital.

He noted:

“The road linking the Body of Benchers Secretariat with Nile University, when completed, will also ease traffic congestion on the road leading to the head office of the EFCC.”

Tinubu approves establishment of new Court of Appeal

In an earlier report by Legit.ng, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state announced that the President Bola Tinubu-led federal government approved the establishment of the Court of Appeal in the state. The governor announced the development in a social media post on Monday, September 15, adding that the appellate court will be established in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Governor Dapo Abiodun expressed the confidence that the development would bring "quicker dispensation of justice" for the people of the state and that it would relieve the burden of loads on the shoulders of the "Ibadan Division" of the court and "strengthen the foundation of fairness in our dear state."

Abiodun noted that justice remains the "bedrock of every prosperous society" and promised that his administration would continue to give adequate support to the judiciary. The governor also pledged to prioritise the welfare of judicial officers and enhance their efficiency with adequate provisions.
