Ebonyi state government, under its Widows’ Housing Project, is to give 26 widows a three-bedroom bungalow.
The projects provided the new homes to two widows in each of the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.

As reported by Vanguard, Governor Nwifuru’s wife, Uzoamaka, will carry out the project under her Foundation, known as Better Health for Rural Women, Children, and Internally Displaced Persons (BERWO).
A widow, Mrs Josephine Ekoyo from Ndiegu Azu Echara in Ikwo, received a key to the newly built home.
Ekoyo told newsmen she had lived in a shanty for several years.
“For years now, the old house fell and was rebuilt by friends and family members, until today.”
Another widow, Mrs Cecilia Ogbuinya from Amagu Onicha village in Abakaliki LGAs, lauded the programme during the inauguration on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

The Better Health For Rural Women, Children, and Internally Displaced Foundation (BERWO) was established to create positive change in communities through targeted initiatives.
The projects are to empower individuals and promote social justice.
According to BERWO, its mission is to uplift vulnerable populations, with a particular focus on women and children, to ensure a brighter and more equitable future for all.
Some of the objectives of BERWO include enhancing girl/boy child education, improving access to Primary health care services, particularly to rural women and children.
Others include providing Economic Empowerment for Ebonyi Women and youth, support to IDPs in the state, and collaborating with donor agencies and Partners (USAID, World Bank, DFID, etc) to improve the lives of indigenes of the state.
Pastor Jerry Eze builds 18 houses for widows
Recall that Pastor Jerry Eze got the attention of netizens after he shared his act of kindness to widows across Nigeria.
The cleric, who is the convener of the online praying platform, built 18 houses for widows and shared their reactions in a video.
Aside from this kind gesture, he also gave out over N100 million in grants to small business owners, which coincided with his birthday.
Nigerian pastor builds house for 72-year-old widow
In a similar story, Legit.ng reported that a Nigerian pastor warmed the hearts of many after building a beautiful house for a 72-year-old woman who was abandoned by her son.
The widow was full of joy during the housewarming and appreciated the pastor for putting a smile on her face.
Pastor Olele extended the kind gesture through her Comforter's Hand of Care Foundation, and many have commended her for this.
