Tragedy as Gunmen Behead Farmer In Ebonyi Community

Oso Edda, Ebonyi state - Suspected warlords have beheaded a middle-aged man identified as Dick Nnachi in Oso Edda, Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The man was attacked and his head cut off on his farm on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

It is gathered that Nnachi’s head is still missing at the moment.

As reported by Channels Television, the LG chairman, Chima Ekumankama, announced the tragic incident during the New Yam Festival celebration of the community.

A moment of silence was observed in remembrance of the deceased at the Nguzu Edda Community Primary School.

Ekumankama threatened to resign as the council chairman due to the ongoing violence in the area.

“Sometimes I just feel like resigning to go back to my business just because each time I see the blood of an Edda man dropped on the floor, it pains me; it makes me very uncomfortable and very sad.”

He called on Governor Francis Nwifuru to promptly establish a security checkpoint to protect lives and property.

“If there is any day you hear that I have resigned, know that this is the reason I have to resign. I am seriously pained, Your Excellency.
“If it is possible, Your Excellency, let us have the army, police, and every other security apparatus in Oso Edda so that we can protect our people."

The State Police spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, said a team of policemen has been deployed to the disputed area.

Police react as man beheads father in Osun

Recall that the operatives of the Osun state Police command arrested a man, Saudi, for allegedly beheading his father, Baale, on a farm in Ilusi village, leaving the community in shock.

Villagers, who found Baale’s body hidden with palm leaves after he didn’t return from the farm, reported that his son later confessed to the crime.

Police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola confirmed the suspect’s custody and assured a thorough investigation to bring justice.

Ritualist beheads woman in Yola hotel

In a similar story, Legit.ng reported that a woman was killed by a yet-to-be-identified man suspected to be a ritualist and is on the run.

The state's commissioner of police confirmed the unfortunate incident and noted that the perpetrator would face the full wrath of the law.

Meanwhile, one of the staff at the hotel discovered the woman's headless body after the suspect, who had checked in with her, left the hotel.
