Ekiti state - The Alara of Aramoko Ekiti in Ekiti state, Oba Olu Adegoke Adeyemi, has passed away at the age of 82.

As reported by The Nation, the monarch’s death was announced in a statement issued by his family on Saturday, August 9.
Alara was celebrated for his remarkable leadership, wisdom, and dedication to the welfare of his people.
According to the statement, the family said Alara’s reign was distinguished by initiatives in conflict resolution, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development, all of which strengthened communal bonds.
“Oba Adeyemi’s impact on the community will forever be cherished as testament to his enduring legacies.”
The family disclosed that the monarch’s funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.

Oba Adeyemi, who was born on December 4, 1942, life defined by service in multiple capacities.
The traditional ruler began his professional career as a teacher and later rose through the ranks as a senior civil servant, and

The monarch ascended the throne of his forefathers in 2009.
The late Oba Adeyemi was the Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU), where he championed projects aimed at improving educational standards and expanding access for local students.

Recall that following ex-President Muhammadu Buhari's death, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, passed away at the age of 91.
Former President Buhari and late Awujale's relationship dated back to 1983 when the former overthrown the then democratic government and saved the latter from dethronement.
Late Oba Adetona was reported to be one of the long-serving traditional rulers in Nigeria as he was on the throne for 62 years.
Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Olakulehin, is dead
In a similar story, Legit.ng reported that the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, joined his ancestors at the age of 90.
Oba Olakulehin passed away on Monday morning, July 7, 2025, one year after he ascended the throne.
The late Oba Olakulehin received the staff of office from Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo state, on July 12, 2024, as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
