Nigerian weddings are usually a big affair, with many friends, family members, and even uninvited guests who gatecrash the ceremony to feast with the couple.

However, a few prefer to have only their immediate families in attendance when making their vows before God and may not share pictures or videos with the public until they welcome their baby.

1. Temi and Mr Eazi's lavish ceremony in Iceland

Temi, the daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, and her husband, Tosin Ajibade, better known as Mr Eazi, had a very private wedding ceremony in August in Iceland, surrounded by family and close friends.

The couple, who got engaged in 2022, had a fairy-tale traditional and white wedding. They decided to share their private moment with fans in several social media posts in September, gushing over their special day and the presence of their family and close friends.

2. Johnny Drille and Rima Tahini's

Nigerian singer John Ighodaro, better known as Johnny Drille, broke many hearts when it was revealed he was married.

The singer kept his marriage and family life private for more than two years. He married Rima Tahini, a Mavin Records A&R executive, in 2023.

The news about his wedding was finally announced by Mavin Record label boss Don Jazzy in a tweet marking the couple's first wedding anniversary. Many ladies felt betrayed and disappointed that they didn’t get Johnny Drille as their husband.

3. D'Banj and Lineo Didi Kilgrow's union

Nigerian singer Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, better known as D'Banj or Koko Master, also kept his wedding a secret for years.

He married Lineo Didi Kilgrow, a beautiful woman from Jos, and kept the details of the wedding private until they welcomed a child together.

A few years later, D'Banj began sharing lovely moments with his wife on Instagram, making their marriage more public.

4. Adekunle Gold and Simi's wedding

Singer Adekunle Kosoko, better known as Adekunle Gold, and his wife, Simi, also had a private wedding ceremony in Lagos.

The couple kept their relationship a secret for a while, leading many to believe that Simi was romantically involved with Falz.

They got married in 2019 in the presence of family and close friends. The couple made their marriage public just four days later with the release of their single “Promise,” which featured snippets of their wedding video as they made promises to each other to grow old together.

5. D'ija and Rotimi's 2015 wedding

Mavin Records star Hadiza Blell, better known as D'ija, married her husband Rotimi in 2015 in a private ceremony in Kaduna, by invitation only. D'ija has always kept her personal life private, and the mother of three only revealed details about her family in 2017 after welcoming her son.

She shared pictures of her husband and son, whom she had welcomed a year before the announcement.

6. Seyi Shay's marriage in 2023

Nigerian singer Oluwaseyi Joshua, better known as Seyi Shay, is another celebrity who has kept her marriage a secret. She got engaged in 2022 and shared the good news, but kept her partner's identity private.

She confirmed she was married in 2023 after welcoming her baby in 2022. Seyi Shay has never shared her husband's name or a picture of him.

7. Uche Jombo and Kenny Rodriguez's marriage

In 2012, Nollywood actress Uche Jombo married her Puerto Rican husband, Kenny Rodriguez, in a private ceremony in Puerto Rico.

The couple welcomed their son, Matthew, in 2015. Since then, they have kept their life private, and many are unsure if they are still together.

8. Funke Akindele and JJ Skillz's wedding

Nollywood actress Funke Akindele also had a private wedding. The mother of two married producer Abdulrasheed Bello, better known as JJ Skillz, in 2016.

The ceremony was kept secret, with only a few family members in attendance. The couple made their union public when celebrating their wedding anniversary, maintaining a private life afterward. However, they went their separate ways in 2022.

Funke Akindele reacts to criticism

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Funke Akindele shared a video where she was praying seriously in the Yoruba language.
