Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola-Salako has given an account of what it cost her to stand with President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 elections.
In an interview with Behind The Fame TV, the actress, who recently lost her mother, disclosed she lost two lucrative ambassadorship deals worth ₦10 million and ₦15 million, respectively, because of her political stance.
According to the actress, the backlash from the Obidient movement didn’t just hit her pocket, and it nearly tore her marriage apart.

She stated, recalling the sacrifices she made without receiving a dime for her support.
“I almost lost my marriage… but I voted my conscience and my choice,”
“This was not the plan” - Daramola
Foluke, who served as the media assistant for the Performing Arts Directorate of the APC’s 2023 presidential campaign council in Lagos, said she backed Tinubu because she believed in a youth-focused agenda.
However, two years later, she noted the administration has taken a different path, one that sidelines young people in major decision-making.
She lamented:
“He didn’t follow the plan… this is not a youth-inclusive government. The plan was to carry as many youth as possible"
The actress also criticised the government’s decision to remove fuel subsidies. She stated that the move has worsened fuel and food prices nationwide.
The actress added:
“That’s what spoilt everything because that’s what is making everything expensive… fuel, food,” she explained, adding that proper youth engagement could help shape better policy ideas.
Foluke stressed that genuine involvement in government projects allows citizens to track progress and take ownership of solutions, but claimed Nigerians are simply “hearing things happen” without being carried along.
