Nigeria have intensified their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as camp officially opens today, September 2.

The Super Eagles are on the verge of missing the World Cup back-to-back after their 1-1 draw against Ghana at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in 2022.

The results of the three-time AFCON winners have not been impressive as they have won one game in six matches.

Chelle receives players

Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle was on the ground to receive the players alongside Atlanta 1996 Olympic gold medallist Patrick Pascal.

The 47-year-old is desperate to qualify Nigeria for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is part of his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation.

Chelle kicked off his campaign with a win against Rwanda 2-0, as Victor Osimhen scored a brace to give the three-time AFCON winner a lifeline.

Nigeria opportunity to place second slipped out of their hands with a draw 1-1 against Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium last March.
