Fans Go Wild as Obi Cubana Visits Enyimba, Receives Special Gift from Kanu Nwankwo, Video

Nine-time champions Enyimba beat Niger Tornadoes 1-0 in their second match in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday evening, August 31.

A lone goal from Joseph Abiodun in the 4th minute ensured the People's Elephant recorded their first home win this season.

Enyimba are currently 6th on the log with one win and one draw (against Barau FC). The Aba-based club will not feature in any CAF tournaments this season after finishing 6th place in the 2024/25 season, per Daily Post.

Obi Cubana falls in love with NPFL, watches Enyimba

Nigerian socialite Obinna Iyeiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, paid a surprise visit to the match venue of Enyimba at their home ground in Aba.

In a video on Instagram, the chairman of Enyimba International FC, Kanu Nwankwo, welcomed the Nigerian billionaire, drawing cheers from the club's fans.

The Super Eagles legend exchanged pleasantries with the socialite before taking him to the VIP stands of the stadium. Nwankwo pointed out some of the outstanding players during the match before proceeding to the pitch, per Sportsration.

The two-time CAF Player of the Year presented the philanthropist with a jersey branded Obi Cubana, bringing out the inner joy of the celebrity. The Arsenal legend wrote:

"We were privileged to have Chief Obinna Iyiegbu Obi Cubana Chairman of the CUBANA GROUP, in attendance as we kicked off our home campaign in the NPFL at the Enyimba International stadium in Aba. @obi_cubana."

It is good for the image of the league - Abah

Nigeria sports journalist Andrew Abah said the Chairman of Enyimba International FC, Kanu Nwankwo, is adding value to the club.

Speaking in an exclusive comment with Legit.ng, Abah said the move by the Super Eagles legend can bring sponsorship to the Nigeria Premier Football League and attract other potential sponsors.

The well-travelled journalist explained that the image of the local league has been boosted with Obi Cubana's visit. He said:

"I am excited about the move of our legend Kanu Nwankwo, inviting Nigerian billionaire Obi Cubana to watch the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). This gesture alone can attract potential sponsors to the league, and other interested investors can queue behind him.
"Enyimba is a big brand in Africa, and hopefully, wewill see a collaboration between the club and Obi Cubana."

The forward, who joined the People's Elephants in December 2024 on a short-term contract until the end of the season, expressed his frustration in a post on social media.
