But speaking after the historic win in Rabat, the former Barcelona forward was quick to shut down the rumour, Punch NG reports.
“I don't know where that came from but agenda must agend,” she said with a smile.
“I'm still here. I'm still playing. I'm still doing my job. That's what I'm focused on.”
The six-time African Player of the Year winner’s statement was clear and powerful; there are no retirement plans on the table, and she remains fully committed to the Super Falcons.
A legacy still in motion
Oshoala's career with the Super Falcons has spanned over a decade, beginning in 2013.
Her breakout moment came in 2014 when she won both the Golden Boot and Golden Ball at the U-20 Women’s World Cup, capturing the world's attention.
That same year, she helped Nigeria lift the African Women’s Championship (now WAFCON), a title she would go on to win three more times, Soccernet reports.

Beyond continental dominance, Oshoala has made history at the global level.
She remains the only African player, male or female, to score in three consecutive FIFA World Cups (2015, 2019, 2023), cementing her name among football's elite.
Despite being one of the more senior players at this year's WAFCON, Oshoala played a crucial supporting role, offering experience, leadership, and guidance to younger teammates en route to Nigeria’s record-extending 10th WAFCON title.
Oshoala’s eyes still on the goal
At 30, Oshoala’s best football may not be behind her.
Now playing in the U.S. with Bay FC after a highly successful stint at FC Barcelona, she remains sharp, influential, and driven.
Her statement has reassured millions of Nigerian fans who feared that one of Africa’s greatest-ever female footballers might soon be calling time on her international career.
As the Super Falcons prepare for future campaigns, including Olympic qualifiers and the next Women’s World Cup cycle, Oshoala’s presence will continue to inspire and anchor the team. Whether she’s scoring goals or providing mentorship from midfield, one thing is certain: Oshoala is not done yet with the Super Falcons.
