Former Barcelona Academy Star Carter Payne Killed Aged 20 in Hit and Run Incident in USA

A former Barcelona academy player Carter Payne was a victim of a hit and run incident in the United States which has left him dead.

It was gathered that Payne suffered fatal injuries after he was hit by a car while he rode his electric scooter.

The tragic news was confirmed by his USL club Tormenta FC 2 in a statement claiming Payne was hit by a car while riding a lime scooter and was in critical condition.

Daily Star reports that he was immediately transported by Air Evac to the Medical Center in Savannah, but due to weather, they were unable to fly.

Due to his critical condition, it was Air Evac’s crew who reportedly assisted paramedics with the ground transport, but sadly Payne later died.

Tormenta FC wrote:

"South Georgia Tormenta FC are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Tormenta FC 2 defender David Carter Payne.
"Carter passed away today, July 9. A member of Tormenta FC 2′s 2022 USL League Two team, Payne was a tremendous athlete, teammate and friend, and he will be sorely missed by everyone involved at the club.
"Carter was hospitalized at Memorial Health: Southeast Georgia Hospital after being involved in a vehicle, pedestrian accident in Statesboro, Georgia.

Referee dies after being attacked by fans

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the Salvadoran Football Federation has called for the authorities to find those responsible for the death of a match official after a center referee lost his life following an attack from fans and players.

Jose Arnoldo Amaya had passed away last weekend after he was attacked for issuing a player a red card in an amateur league game which prompted an outrageous scene of violence.

The 63-year-old suffered from internal bleeding as a result of the attack as doctors failed in their attempt to prevent his injuries from getting worse.
