The Northern Vanguard for Asiwaju (NOVA) has congratulated Bello Matawalle, minister of state for defence, on his nomination as deputy director, Security and Intelligence I of the 2027 APC Presidential Campaign Council, calling the appointment a reflection of his loyalty and strategic value to the ruling party.
The group's president and secretary, Danladi Haruna and Adamu Jaco, jointly signed a statement describing the nomination as well-deserved and said it validates Matawalle's contributions to the All Progressives Congress and to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

NOVA Backs Matawalle's North West Influence
NOVA argued that Matawalle's years of grassroots engagement in Zamfara State and across the North West geopolitical zone have built him a broad base of supporters that the APC can draw on during the campaign season.
"This appointment attests to his competence, diligence, and dedication to the ideals of the All Progressives Congress and the leadership of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu," the statement read.
The group added that Matawalle's role within the campaign's security and intelligence structure would strengthen the party's overall campaign architecture ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Group Sets 20 Million Vote Target for Tinubu
NOVA announced a target of 20 million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, saying the figure is "realistic, achievable, and non-negotiable." The organisation said its network of ward-level coordinators, youth leaders, women leaders, and community figures across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory is already being mobilised.
"Our structures on the ground are ready. From the wards to the local governments and up to the state levels, we shall leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the good people of the North reward President Tinubu's leadership with a resounding mandate," the statement said.
The group also called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other northern progressive organisations to unite behind Tinubu's re-election bid. It argued that the current administration's policies in infrastructure, agriculture, security, and economic reform have benefitted the region, and that continuity remains the stronger path forward.
NOVA urged its members to conduct the mobilisation drive peacefully and to reject violence, misinformation, and divisive messaging as the campaign period draws closer.
