Breaking: Atiku Strengthens Strategy Against Tinubu, Meets Coalition Leaders

  • President Bola Tinubu's second-term ambition has again been threatened as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar made a new move
  • The former vice president, on Thursday, September 25, reiterated his commitment to sacking Tinubu in the 2027 election
  • Atiku's comment has started generating mixed reactions from some Nigerians, who expressed different views about the ex-VP's announcement

Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president of Nigeria, has met with the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by its interim national chairman and former Senate President David Mark.

The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, who has been consistent in his criticism of President Bola Tinubu and has vowed to sack the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the 2027 election, announced the development in a social media post on Thursday, September 25.

Some opposition leaders, including Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi, a former presidential aspirant in the APC, have joined Atiku's coalition, making their voice and presence known during the coalition's adoption of the ADC.

Nigerians react as Atiku meets ADC leaders

However, Atiku's latest announcement has started generating mixed reactions from some Nigerians. Below are some of their reactions:

Agarra Wills makes satire out of Atiku's post:

"I am currently at the stakeholders meeting of the African Democratic Congress in Abuja. It is a meeting I initiated to remind them that my dollars are still in stock & I'm willing to throw it around if they rig the primaries for me as usual."

Nedu Ani posited:

"Every decision should be mutual and in the National interest. We will never be part of any gang up to hijack power, but that Lagos tax collector and his boys need to be sent packing asap."

Dapo raised the same allegation against Atiku:

"You mean you're at the meeting of the coalition founding fathers of the 'oligarchs who promote poverty and insecurity in the land'? In other words, you're still an active member and promoter."

Papa Jidenna criticised Atiku:

"But there is news making rounds that you said when you win, you will put Yorubas in your cabinets and not the Hausa/Fulanis. I'm not even talking about the Igbo."

Okpanachi Sulieman maintained that David Mark is not the authentic ADC national chairman:

"For the fact that the outgoing INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, wrongly announced David Mark as ADC notional chairman does not make him the party chairman. The court in the land must be allowed to do its work if democracy in Nigeria is to survive."
