FCT, Abuja - Senate President, Godswill Obot Akpabio, has been commended for the unsealing of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s office in the National Assembly in Abuja.

A source explained how the decision was taken during a leadership meeting of the Nigerian Senate on Monday, September 22, 2025.

The Northern Ethnic Youths Group hailed Akpabio for his “measured, decisive, and fatherly leadership” in resolving the dispute surrounding Natasha’s suspension.

The group Akpabio’s handling of the situation was a testament to his commitment to institutional order and stability.

As reported by leadership, the spokesperson for the group, Alhaji Ibrahim Dan-Musa, made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

Dan-Musa said Akpabio’s intervention was crucial in protecting the integrity and functionality of the National Assembly.

“Even in the face of provocation and a flurry of unverified allegations, Chief Akpabio conducted himself with the grave responsibility and restraint that befits his high office.”
“His actions are a perfect example of the steady, principled stewardship our institutions desperately need at critical moments.”

The group urged Akpoti-Uduaghan to exercise restraint and avoid “needless public accusations.”

Dan-Musa warned that reckless statements and confrontational conduct only inflame tensions and undermine confidence in democratic institutions.

Court gives verdict on Senate's suspension of Natasha

In a previous story, Legit.ng reported that the Senate was ordered to immediately recall suspended Senator Akpoti Uduaghan from her six-month suspension.

Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja held that the six-month suspension was excessive on the part of the Senate.

According to the ruling, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has the right to sanction any member who errs, but the sanction must not be excessive to the extent of denying constituents the right to be represented.
