APC Woos Rivers Governor Fubara Ahead of Reinstatement, “Announce Your Defection”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is wooing the suspended governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara, to its fold, ahead of the planned reinstatement ceremony on Thursday, September 18.

Rivers APC urges Fubara to dump PDP

The reinstated spokesman of the APC in Rivers state, Darlington Nwauju, extended an open invitation to Governor Fubara when he appeared as a guest on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Tuesday, September 16.

Nwauju noted that if he were Fubara, he would announce his official defection to the ruling APC during his reinstatement on Thursday.

Buttressing his point, Nwauju noted that he would advise Fubara to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the APC would gladly welcome him into their fold.

Nwauju stated this;

“If I were the governor of Rivers State, on my return on Thursday, I would announce my defection to the All Progressives Congress.
“I think the governor should join the APC, and we would gladly receive the governor into our party.”

Fubara will lead Rivers APC if he dumps PDP - Nwauju

Speaking further, Nwauju revealed that based on the APC’s convention, Fubara automatically becomes the party’s leader should he join its fold.

“By the convention of our party, if he joins the All Progressives Congress (APC), he becomes the leader of the party,” Nwauju stated.

Tinubu, Fubara to return to Nigeria today

Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja after cutting short his vacation in France, ahead of Rivers return to democratic rule on Thursday, September 18.

Suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara will also return to the country from London, United Kingdom, on Tuesday (today).

“Join APC, leave PDP alone,” Tonye Cole tells Wike

In a similar development, Legit.ng reported that former Rivers governorship candidate of the APC, Tonye Cole, have pressured FCT minister Nyesom Wike to join the APC and allow other opposition parties to breathe.

In a trending interview, Tonye Cole challenged Wike, alleging that the minister cannot be in the APC and be controlling the PDP.

Court throws out suit challenging Rivers LGA elections

Legit.ng earlier reported that a Rivers State High Court has dismissed the case challenging the outcome of Rivers state local council polls conducted in the state by the sole administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas.

A Port Harcourt-based legal practitioner, Williams Stanley, dragged President Tinubu to court, challenging his decision to appoint Ibas, and on the other hand, is challenging Ibas for conducting the Rivers LGA election.

In a ruling delivered on Monday, the presiding judge, Justice Stephen Jumbo, dismissed the case for lack of merit.
