Deputy Senate President to Sponsor Mass Wedding for 440 Kano Indigenes

The Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has unveiled plans to sponsor the weddings of 440 indigenes of Kano State.

The initiative, which includes financial empowerment for the newlyweds, was announced by a close associate of the senator, Alhaji Fahad Ogan Boye, during a press briefing in Kano.

Mass wedding initiative to promote Islamic values

Alhaji Fahad Ogan Boye, popularly known as Ogan Boyen Sanata Barau Maliya, told journalists that the mass wedding programme reflects Senator Barau’s enduring commitment to supporting the masses and improving their livelihoods.

He revealed that beneficiaries of the initiative would be drawn from all 44 local government areas of Kano State, without regard to political affiliation or religious background.

According to Ogan Boye, the initiative is designed not only to ease the financial burden of marriage but also to promote Islamic principles and encourage youth independence. He referred to the selected beneficiaries as “Ýan Gatan Sanata Barau Maliya,” a term that underscores their connection to the senator’s philanthropic efforts.

Senator Barau Described as a Beacon of Hope

Ogan Boye praised Senator Barau’s leadership, describing him as “a champion of Islamic values and a beacon of hope not only for the people of Kano State but for the entire Northern Nigeria.”

He added:

Senator Barau, a true Democrat and ambassador of peace and unity, has launched this new initiative. He is set to sponsor the weddings for over 400 people in Kano, covering all expenses from start to finish. In addition, he will empower the couples to ensure their independence. This is a unique initiative by the Deputy Senate President.”

He further assured residents of Kano and the wider northern region that this was only the beginning of Senator Barau’s interventions, stating:

“As one of his close allies, I want to assure the people of Kano State and the North that this is just the beginning. Senator Barau is a pro-masses leader who always prioritises his constituents. We should expect more interventions from him aimed at supporting citizens and easing their lives.”
“The President is doing his best, and we believe his policies are on the right track to restore Nigeria to its glorious days. We must support our leaders and remember to include them in our prayers. This is the only way to achieve lasting peace and development in our beloved nation.”

Barau mentions new state that should be created

Legit.ng earlier reported that Senator Barau Jibrin said he would work with a colleague in the national assembly, Senator Muntari Dan-Dutse, the lawmaker representing the Funtua Senatorial district in Katsina, in ensuring that a new state is created.
