Nentawe Yilwatda discloses Tinubu's directive about APC
Yilwatda then referred to himself as an APC coordinator and disclosed that President Bola Tinubu had directed that he should collaborate closely with the past national chairman.
The APC senior official made the comment while speaking at his condolence visit to Ganduje over the death of his mother at his predecessor's residence in Abuja on August 27, 2025.
The APC national chairman's comment read in part:
“My doors are open, the office is open, the partnership remains open, and the friendship remains open. So never lock your door against me, and I know you will not because we have worked together long before this time.
"Moreover, by experience and by virtue of politics, you have been there long before me. Since the time of the NPN, you have been part of the political scene. At that time, I was only in primary school. I recall that we used to see Governor Rimi come to Jos in the 70s and 80s to visit Solomon Lar. One day, he came to commission a project at my school. I was just in Form 2, waving at them along with my classmates — I never knew what politics truly meant. By then, people like you had already mastered the ropes of politics, while we didn’t even know the definition of politics.
“So I need your experience. I need your guidance. The learning curve still rests with you. I will depend heavily on your experience, your connections, and your contacts to ensure we solidify this party and build it together, so that we can win more elections.”

“Our doors are open. When everybody’s time is due, it will manifest itself, and that is also for everybody who has come back to the APC.”
Kwankwaso and Ganduje have been two political enemies in the politics of Kano. They both worked together as governor and deputy governor in the northwest state until the former handed over power to the latter.
There were speculations that the former national chairman of the ruling party had resigned because of his rival's planned defection.

Analyst speaks on APC performance in bye-election
Omotayo Yusuf, a political commentator, in an exclusive interview with Legit.ng, rated the ruling party high and pointed lack of organisation in the opposition parties.
He made the disclosure while commenting on the parties' preparation for the 2027 elections based on the outcome of the recent bye-elections. He said:
"The outcome of the bye-election showed how prepared the APC is and how the PDP, Labour Party and ADC are still struggling to find their feat. At the moment, the APC may come stronger in the 2027 election than the opposition."
