Obi, a former governor of Anambra state, was the PDP’s vice-presidential candidate in 2019 before resigning from the party ahead of the 2023 polls.

He later ran under the Labour Party, where his candidacy resonated strongly with young Nigerians, though he finished third behind President Bola Tinubu of the APC and PDP’s Atiku Abubakar.

When asked whether former President Jonathan could also return to the PDP to contest in 2027, Senator Moro responded that efforts were ongoing to woo the ex-leader.

“Some persons are talking to the former president to come and run. It is a possibility,” he said.

Jonathan rose to become Nigeria's president in 2010 after the death of President Musa Yar’Adua. He also went on to win the 2011 election but lost his re-election bid to Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.
