“Wait till 2035,” Ohanaeze Tells Igbo Candidates, Backs Tinubu’s Re-Election

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has maintained that no Igboman will contest for president in 2027 against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Igbo presidency in 2035 - Ohanaeze
The group noted that that the possibility of the Southeast producing the president of Nigeria can only be achieved in 2035, not 2027.
In a statement signed by deputy president general of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo faction, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and the national spokesman, Chief Thompson Ohia, they revealed that the decision was taken after a crucial meeting with Southeast political leaders, Imeobi and Nzukoumunna.
They maintained that that no Igboman will contest president in 2027 against Tinubu, signaling the rejection of a one-term bid.
The group further resolved that the most practicable political vehicle for the pursuit of the Igbo presidency lies within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2035 if the zoning formula is altered.

Umahi to succeed Tinubu - Ohanaeze
Buttressing their point, Ohanaeze Ndigbo said that among notable Igbo sons, the minister of works, Senator David Umahi, stands out as the most outstanding candidate to lead the country in 2035.
According to them, Ohanaeze affirmed their unwavering support for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, projecting that approximately 95% of Igbo votes will rally behind this cause.
As reported by The Guardian on Monday, August 25, the group stated thus:
“We assert, with unwavering candor and respect, that the goal of achieving an Igbo presidency is indeed realizable and sets forth as a compelling objective for the year 2035.”
Obi told to allow Tinubu complete 2nd term
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that a faction of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo called on Labour Party's Peter Obi to jettison any plan to contest in the 2027 presidential election.
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo faction asked Obi to instead support President Tinubu’s second-term bid. Recently, Obi joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition platform in a plot to unseat President Tinubu in 2027.

Obi told to allow Tinubu complete 2nd term
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Dare Glintstone Akinniyi, spokesperson for the New Democratic Frontiers (NDF), sent a crucial message to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) regarding its 2027 presidential ticket.
In an exclusive interview with Legit.ng, Akinniyi mentioned the region the leadership of the ADC should zone its presidential ticket to, ahead of the 2027 election.
As the moves to unseat President Bola Tinubu intensify, Akinniyi mentioned the implication of a southern candidate emerging as the ADC's flagbearer in 2027.
