Sacking Tinubu: List of Former Governors Who Have Denied Links with ADC, Coalition
- President Bola Tinubu's chances in the 2027 presidential election would be facing a coalition of opposition leaders, a movement earlier championed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar
- The Atiku-led coalition recently adopted the ADC as its political platform ahead of the 2027 election, adding that many political figures are on their way to joining the party
- However, some former governors have been mentioned in the media that they are part of the coalition, but at least three former governors have denied having links with the ADC
Ahead of the 2027 general election, some opposition leaders have come together to form a coalition against President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This was earlier championed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The coalition recently adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform for the 2027 election. Other prominent figures in the movement included Peter Obi, the Labour Party's flagbearer in the 2023 presidential election. Also included were Nasir El-Rufai and Rotimi Amaechi, the former governors of Kaduna and Rivers state.

While the event was attended by several political figures, including former governors, senators and other ex-elected office holders, there has been a report of some former governors joining the coalition and the ADC, which they have denied having a link with the new bride in Nigerian politics.
Below are the governors who have denied having links with ADC:
Samuel Ortom
The immediate past governor of Benue, Samuel Ortom, has denied the report that he is dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ADC, adding that he remains the leader of the opposition party in Benue.
In July, the former governor posited that politicians have the right and freedom to decide and move to any political party of their choice, but insisted that he was not leaving the party.
Kayode Fayemi
Fayemi, the immediate past governor of Ekiti, has distanced himself from the claims that he co-founded the coalition and joined the ADC along with the former governor of Rivers, Rotimi Amaechi.
In a statement issued on Sunday, August 10, through his media office in Abuja and signed by Ahmad Sajoh, the former governor denied the claim attributed to Amaechi, where it was suggested that the two of them spearheaded the coalition before opening the door for other political actors.

Ambode noted that President Tinubu was an achiever and a leader who was result-oriented. He maintained that Tinubu has made significant progress in pension reforms, the student loan scheme, as well as the growth of the economy.
