2023: Senator Orji Kalu Hosts Prominent PDP Presidential Aspirant, Reveals What They Discussed

FCT, Abuja - Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on Wednesday evening, December 1, hosted a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, in his Abuja residence.

The Senate chief whip and former Abia state governor made this known in a Facebook post sighted by Legit.ng.

According to Senator Kalu who is a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), he and Anyim discussed issues considering the southeast region and Nigeria at large.

Though he didn't specify, the issue they discussed may bother on the southeast's agitation to produce Nigeria's next president in 2023.

He wrote:

"I played host this evening to my brother , former Senate President and former Secretary to Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim.
"We held a deep discussion about our region and our country, Nigeria at large.”

2023: Ex-SGF Pius Anyim says he will contest presidency

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Anyim declared that he will contest for presidency in 2023.

Anyim who is also a former Senate president said he will contest for the position whether his party, PDP, zones the presidential ticket to the southeast or not.

His words:

“We currently have less than 18 months to the next elections, and I feel the time is ripe to indicate my interest.”

Similarly, Senator Kalu has expressed his willingness to contest the 2023 presidential election only if Nigerians canvassed his candidature.

The Abia South senator and former governor of Abia state, however, said his ambition, for now, is to return to the Senate in 2023.

Kalu stated this during an interactive session with journalists after receiving the traditional title of Kibiya of Argungu Emirate from the Emir, Alhaji Mohammed Mera.
