Former PDP's Spokesperson Metuh Reacts To Soludo Victory, Makes 1 Strong Demand

A former spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, has reacted to the declaration of Professor Chukuwma Soludo as the winner of the Anambra governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a statement shared with Legit.ng on Wednesday, November 10, Metuh congratulated Soludo on his emergence as the governor-elect of Anambra state.

The former PDP spokesperson said that the people of Anambra have made their voices heard loud and clear by democratically electing who leads them for the next four years.

Contenders advised to embrace peace and support

He said while the outcome of the election might not have swung the way some individuals, especially those within the political circles desired, the will of Ndi Anambra must be respected and accepted.

Metuh said:

"It is on this note that I call on all Ndi Anambra, irrespective of political affiliations, to put politics and issues of the election behind and come together as one people that we are, and join hands with Prof. Soludo to chart a new course for our dear state."

Metuh further urged other contenders from various political parties who might be hurting over the outcome of the election to put their eyes on the larger picture of achieving a desired development in the state.

He said this can be achieved through the right support and leadership for the newly elected governor of Anambra state.

He said for the interest of the people, contenders in the just concluded November 6, governorship election in the state should avoid litigations that could stall the development process, political stability, economic recovery, infrastructural development and security of lives in Anambra.

According to Metuh, election litigation processes would be counter-productive to the aspiration of the Anambra people in steering the state in the right direction.

Soludo handed fresh responsibilities

He also urged the Anambra governor-elect to ensure true leadership by running an effective administration that will efficiently galvanize and harness the best hands so as to move our state forward.

He said:

"We expect the return of the real expatriate community to Onitsha and other prominent cities of the state.
Prof. Soludo is reminded that the burden before him is a very onerous one. Ndi Anambra look up to him to unite the people and return Anambra state to her pride of place as flagship of development in our country."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Nigeria's electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Professor Soludo as the winner of the Anambra 2021 governorship election.

Soludo was announced the governor-elect following an election in the state on Saturday, November 6, which plummeted into a supplementary election in some local government areas of Anambra on Tuesday, November 9.

The finalised results of the election saw Soludo polling a total of 112,229 votes to defeat his close rivals from the PDP and the APC.

Soludo, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, who ran under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) defeated his contenders in 19 of the 21 local government areas in Anambra state.

His victory presents the people of Anambra and the Nigerian political ecosystem another opportunity to have a former CBN governor cupping a state's number one seat.
