Under this arrangement, qualifying expatriates are permitted to bring in certain family members and have them granted legal residency through the competent authority, bypassing the standard sponsorship requirement entirely.

"An expatriate owner of a residential unit holding a property owner's residence permit in the Sultanate of Oman may obtain a residence visa from the competent authority — without the need for a sponsor — for their foreign spouse and for their first-degree family members."

Foreigners who own property in Oman but do not yet hold that specific permit would first need to obtain it before they can apply on behalf of their relatives.

The government set the salary requirement at AED 3,000 for applicants whose employers provide accommodation and AED 4,000 for those who arrange their own housing.
