Upon realising the phone was missing, she quickly used her phone to call her husband's number, but it was either busy or switched off.
To secure their personal data, she was able to put the stolen phone on lost mode and this rendered the phone useless to the thief, as Apple Pay was disconnected, and the device became locked.
She also sent a custom message to anyone who might find the phone, requesting they contact her.
Speaking further, she warned viewers about another scam, after receiving suspicious messages claiming to be from Apple.

These messages asked her to click on a link and enter her password to track the phone. However, she realised it was a scam due to inconsistencies in the messages and the fact that Apple would not send such messages.
She emphasised the importance of being cautious when receiving such messages and advised viewers not to click on suspicious links or enter their Apple ID or password.

In her words:
"If your iPhone gets stolen, here's what to do fast. My husband's iPhone was stolen three weeks ago. Here's what I did to secure the phone and prevent myself from being scammed from scammers. Now, a little back story. So, it was a beautiful Sunday morning. We were on our way to church. We boarded a keke and as we were going, we were about to reach our stop and then we alerted the driver to stop and he didn't stop. Instead, he continued moving and we had to tell him that, ah, ah, we are about to stop. And I believe that is when the phone was stolen. We dropped down from the keke and we crossed over, and that's when my husband noticed that his phone was missing. Immediately, I brought out my phone and I called his phone and it said busy. I tried again and it said switched off. That's when we realized that truly, truly it was stolen and it wasn't left at the house.

"Thankfully, I and my husband are on the same iCloud family plan, so I was able to go on Find My app and click on his device and put it on lost mode. Now, if you're not on any plan with anyone, you can use a friend's phone and log in with your Apple ID, and you'll be able to put the phone on lost mode. When you put the phone on lost mode, you will see that you're able to send a custom message to anybody who gets the phone, so you can send a message in case anyone who is honest enough gets in contact with that phone. So, I just put in a message and added my number to be contacted if anyone finds the phone.
"When this lost mode is activated, the phone becomes locked, Apple Pay becomes disconnected, and it renders the phone basically useless for the thief to use. Now, you can also decide to erase your device remotely, and you should also know that even if you erase it remotely, the activation lock and the phone will still be locked, meaning that the thief will still not be able to access your phone even if you've erased all your information from the phone. So, I did all that. Then we went in for service, and then we got back home and checked the house to see if we would see the phone.

"Our delulu was too much. On Monday morning, I received an SMS from Apple that my iPhone has been found and I should click on a link to be able to track the phone. I just decided to indulge, you know, and I clicked the link, and I was asked to put in my six-code password to be able to track the phone. And I was wondering why I would be asked for that when on my Find My app, it's not showing any location. And I realized that it had to be a scam.
"Now, if you look at the messages, you can see that they are not really consistent in the posting. You can also see that in a particular text, there was an extra space left in a part. There was a semicolon used in a different part. There was a dot used. You can tell that this is not a legit message. And Apple will never send you an SMS. You can always track from your Find My app.

"So, if you get that kind of message, it's better for you not to even click the link. And if you mistakenly click the link, do not put in your Apple ID or any code of any sort. If not, they will access your phone and switch off your lock mode and be able to do what they want with your phone. And in the span of four days, I received seven messages from that Apple contact telling me about my phone, and even check that the links are even different. They are not consistent. As in different links. That is not how Apple moves. But guess what? I'm not clicking any link. That phone is going to remain locked forever.
"One thing you should bear in mind is when you activate this lost mode, if the phone you are trying to activate is not connected to the internet, this will not work. You need to be pending till that phone is connected to the internet, then the lost mode will be activated. Till today, my husband's phone is still locked down tight. It is still on lost mode, and they haven't been able to access the phone. So, granted, yeah, we didn't get the phone back, no, we didn't. But at least the thief won't be able to sell that phone. They won't be able to do anything with that phone unless maybe they decide to sell it for parts."

"Thanks for this important information. The new iOS version now even if your phone part is sold on scrap it ask for password, I mean if they remove the battery or screen of a stolen in an other iPhone it will ask for password so that means if they don’t have your password it’s still useless for them."
