An emotional video posted via the TikTok app showed her removing her newly-plaited braids all by herself.

According to her, the decision to take down the burgundy-coloured braids was made after her parents expressed disapproval of the bright colour she had chosen.

The video, shared by @popupella1 on TikTok, showed the moment she loosened her braids almost in tears.

"After spending the whole day at the salon and then coming back home to my parents saying the colour is too bright and I have to take it down that night," she captioned the video.
