After Sowore's claim, the Department of State Services filed a criminal suit against the former presidential candidate, for defamation, alleging that he made a false statement against the president and breached Nigeria's Cybercrimes and Terrorism Prevention laws.

Reacting to the scenario on Thursday, September 18, the FCT Minister, while speaking at the flag off of the construction of Arterial Road N1 in Wuye, described the former presidential candidate as being "lucky" that President Tinubu respected the rule of law, adding that he may not be lucky with someone else being a president.

Soon after Wike's reaction, Sowore made a series of posts via social media, calling Wike a criminal and alleging that the minister plans to assassinate him.

Wike says Sowore playing mind games

Responding in a statement issued on Saturday, September 20, in Abuja, Olayinka described the claims as “mind games” and a tactic by Sowore to sustain his lifestyle.

In the view of Olayinka, Sowore should be concentrating on his current criminal trial instead of "recklessly dragging national leaders" into the fray.

He said:

"If any harm befalls Sowore's life, it should be from those whom he has blackmailed. President Tinubu and the FCT Minister should be spared the effects of his lifestyle that are about to unfold."

The minister's spokesperson also applied Sowore's recent verbal attacks on Wike as "the last kick of a dying horse" and an attempt to "play the victim" before the reality of his court cases catching up to him.

"All his theatrics that he has been peddling about Wike in the past 48 hours are all just part of his games of the mind. He knows the seriousness of the allegations leveled against him," Olayinka went on to state.
